Good morning! Yes, indeed it is a great morning and a great day! I have been having lots of fun working with my new Alien Bees this week (just in case you are wondering, those are studio lights by Paul Bluff, of White Lightning fame (no, not moonshine made in the hills, though I have photographed a real old-fashioned underground whiskey-making biz-ness in Virginia many moons ago! Actually got pictures of the law folks blowing that dang still right off the mountain using dy-no-mite!)

Anyway, back to this wonderful day…this whole week has been full of great moments actually. Yesterday I photographed musician, Doug “the Bear” Travers, and today I am photographing Rebecca McInvale. Tomorrow I head out to Gulf Port to do a little “city shooting” and hopefully make some nice images of local flute-maker/musician, Linda Brassell.

So this is a short one but I just wanted to say hi to everybody and share a photo and a thought!
Taking Time to Stop and Enjoy Nature
So, my reminder for you this day is to take a moment to stop, look and see the beauty of nature that surrounds us everyday in everyway!

Have a great day everybody and be sure to visit again soon as I will be posting some new photos from this week’s shoots very soon!

Welcome World!

I know it is a bit clicheŽ but I just couldn’t resist! So, welcome – welcome to my very first blog here at Focus From The Heart, photographic art by Candace C. Mundy.

Well, actually, and in all honesty, it’s my very first blog anywhere. So here goes…I’ve been thinking about it all day (longer than that really) and now the time has come…

ME

If you live in Tampa, Florida, as I do, then perhaps you know me. Or you recognize my name. For the last 20 years or so you have likely seen me on the streets of your community, or taking pictures at your school’s functions, or on the sidelines of a youth sports game, or any one of a gazillion other places where photojournalists from the local newspaper are often seen. Yep, I’ve been there. And indeed, I have loved every minute of it! And yes, there were a whole lot of minutes and a whole lot of news-making, story-telling photographs that were shot by me and published by The Tampa Tribune during those twenty glorious (well, mostly glorious) years..doing what I have always loved to do the most…tell stories through the photographic eye of my heart. Sweet. Very, very sweet.

But today, well today I’m here. I’m heading in a new direction. I’ve become my own boss, a business woman, an entrepreneur, the founder and owner of Focus From The Heart, photographic art by Candace C. Mundy. Kind of has a nice ring, don’t you think?

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m still doing what I love to do best…I’m still telling stories through pictures, or photographic art as I prefer to say. And I’m still loving every minute of it!

For a while now I have been working my way towards this day. It is a really big day for me…sharing my photographs with the world through a medium that’s all my own. Here in my galleries on the Portfolio page you will see what I have been photographing most recently. Weddings, portraits, maternity, children, and families. Dogs and cats too. And even an occasional “pretty” picture along the way. Nature’s ways in the wild. All the work of my heart. My creative self-expression.

If you know me, then you know that photography has always been the love of my heart. Today that love is even stronger than ever and I am as excited as I have ever been to be a visual artist.

And speaking of the love of my heart, I have to tell you that the adorable b&w picture below is one of the other loves of my heart, my “daughter” Rain. Isn’t that the cutest picture ever. Well, a mother has to brag doesn’t she, even if she did take the picture herself! No, I don’t actually have any human children of my own but one of the things I love the most about being a lifestyles photographer is all the wonderful children I get to meet and photograph, such as my little friend in the picture above with me. Sometimes the moment just moves me to take a picture with my subjects. And yes, that is Sponge Bob on my jacket! Some days we just have to put on our Sponge Bob jacket and have fun with the kids.

But I sure do love my four-leggeds. All four of them. Three wonderful Boston Terriers and a very finicky Shih Tzu. And yes, you will see pictures of my babies in the mix of pet gallery photographs. What mother could leave out her own children, I ask? Well, certainly not this mother.

Well, I think that’s about it for this one. Quite honestly, it has been a long couple of weeks of non-stop work here on the website, getting it all ready for the big debut. For the month of August Focus From The Heart, photographic art, is the featured business at my local bank, Bay Gulf Credit Union, in Land O’ Lakes. I am very excited. And I am even more excited to be publishing this blog tonight and taking down the “website under construction” sign, finally!

A new day is here!

Thanks for allowing me the time to share with you. Come back often. Sign up for the RSS feed. I will be doing my best to actively update the blog on a weekly basis, at least, and I will also be looking forward to sharing my new work with you here first!

And by all means, if you are so inclined, please share my link with all your friends!

Until next time -

Many Smiles,

Candace
