As a career photojournalist and a lifestyles photographic artist, I know that the best place to make great photographs is in the comfort of one’s own familiar surroundings. I especially like the natural environment of the client’s home when photographing children and families as I find that children do best when they are most comfortable. But then, don’t we all?
I love to use natural lighting when possible as I find the look of natural lighting to be more aesthetically pleasing and creatively beautiful. I also find that natural lighting provides a more relaxed environment. I always have studio-type lighting available for the times that a more traditional look is needed or wanted. After all, lighting is everything and we all know that lighting can certainly make or break a great photograph!
My natural environment sessions are scheduled for a minimum of two hours of shooting time, though sometimes the session may go a bit longer to make sure we both get what we want! I suggest for most sessions, especially maternity, at least several changes of clothes so that we have a nice variety of photographic choices. Please try to have at least three choices of clothing ready when I arrive. When working with children it sometimes depends on their mood as to how long the session may last or how many outfit changes we might be able to accomplish.
When I first arrive I will look over your space to check out the natural lighting and I will make some choices as to the best areas for our session. I will definitely be open to your ideas, thoughts and suggestions so feel free to look around and see what you like before the day of our shoot. You might even want to make note of the times of the day that the natural lighting is best in the areas of your home that you particularly like, both inside and outside. We may decide to do all natural environments or we may decide to use studio lights and perhaps even a backdrop. Or you may choose to have both.
Most important to me is knowing that you in no way feel rushed during our session. Great photographs happen in a moment of time. The more relaxed you are during our moments together, the easier it will be for us to achieve wonderful and very natural photography. I like to think of the time we share as an adventure… my adventure into seeing you and your loved ones through the eyes of my heart – times that you will never forget – our moments made immortal in photographic art that will be loved and cherished for a lifetime.
I can’t tell you how many photographs to anticipate from our session as every situation is different. What I can tell you is that I want you to be absolutely satisfied when you see the results! We’re in this together and I promise you that your joy equals my joy!
Within a month after our shoot you will be able to go online to my proofing gallery via this website and view your images. The minute they are ready I will send you an email. You may use the online shopping cart to choose your favorite images and order prints. You may also choose from a large selection of other photographic specialty items including t-shirts, mouse pads, canvas prints, cut-outs, and more. Your gallery may be open to the public, or if you prefer, your gallery may be password-protected. With a password-protected gallery you control who has the ablitiy to view your photographs. Galleries can remain online for up to three months after posting to give you plenty of time to make choices and place orders.
